People recommend freezing since rice and other dry good may have insect eggs in it. Once you add an oxygen absorber and seal the bag, there is no oxygen left. Not sure how insects could live in an oxygen free environment. When I started using mylar years ago, I didn't freeze the food before hand. (Prepper types hadn't decided this was the thing you had to do back then) After several years of storage I opened and used some products and they were just fine. I'm sure your foods will be fine, too. Prep on! : )
I'm just getting into this, but I figured that's what the 1 1/2 tsp of diatomaceous earth per pound of food was added for. Maybe it's like water purification. Have all the methods. :)
