Making a batch this week. I am using left over roast - will dehydrate. then going to add dehydrated, celery, apple, and strawberry. Ill let you know how it turns out but hopefully wont taste entirely like crap.
I havent made it yet but jay townsend has a good video about it iirc, the humidity in florida is going to make life interesting for you
I watched a video with meat and fruit in it, also to me that seems like perfect combo. Protein & a little sweet. Think to bag using Mylar & oxy pill would do just fine. Heck even dry can the same way. Just have lots more Mylar.👝
My uncle made it a few years back. Tastes like crap but you can it. He put it in a air saver bag. Not sure you need it. After I opened it and left it exposed for a couple year I looked at it again and it look the same smelt the same. I could bring myself to taste it since it was hard to eat when it was just opened. But all the fat is what made it hard for me to wash down. Maybe tweaking the recipe could make it taste better.
I think the ingredients need to be more than meat & beef tallow. I am going to try & I will let you know if I like. Thaks.
So, first batch is made. The wife and 2 kiddos spit it out. I ate a square of it. It is deffenantly calorie dense! taste is not great, (kinda like cardboard with a side of the veggies and fruits.) the flavors are separate and dont mix\flow or pallet well. but in a situation where you need calories, vitamins and minerals. this will do great and shelf life is amazing. This was the first batch, so I think a take 2-10 is probably needed. this will sit on the shelf well.
I used 1 cup dehydrated meat, 1 cup fruit, 1 cup veggies, and 1 cup tallow (next batch will use about 3\4 cup tallow)
