Looking for a dehydrator that won't break the bank but still have decent quality. I had a friend suggest a Cabela's store brand, don't know much about them. Looked on Amazon and they are anywhere from $40-260 last I checked. Want to make jerky, dehydrated fruits and veggies. Maybe nuts and seeds too? Never tried dehydrating before but don't want to waste resources/funds either.

Well, long story short weve had a LEM dehydrator for about 5+ years now... first let me start by making it clear that we do NOT just buy stuff to have it and maybe use it once a year. We purchase with a purpose. Husband bought the LEM (5 tray dehydrator) about 5 years ago, since then we dehydrated a lot of nonsense (not mentioning it, because that stuff was not edible 😂) . But also moved and literally heated a camper with it, while dehydrating 24/7... while the buddy propane heater gave out, the LEM dehydrator drudged on and fought the iced walls to a point where we at least could move blankets and get up without freezing to a thin foam mattress.. all while dehydrating onions and mushrooms... i wish the LEM front closure would be more durable (broke that one years ago) but other then that, it has been a work horse with HUNDREDS -if not thousands- of hours on its back, yet its still performing flawlessly!! Btw. Dont get a electric dehydrator just for seeds and nuts... happy shopping👍💓
thanks and noted. I have no idea what or how to dehydrate other than jerky and whatever we grow in the garden or get from local farmer stands. But wanted to make soup starter, onions, herbs, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, etc.
I'm actually dehydrating potatoes now :) I didn't know if I would like dehydrated foods and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something that wouldn't pan out. I bought a Nesco for REALLY cheap. So far I have dehydrated onions, potatoes, strawberries and bananas. Going to dehydrate carrots next. I will most likely upgrade to a bigger, fancier model if this one dies. For now, starting out, it gets the job done.
