I currently live in a suburb north of a smaller city, but right next to an interstate. I was wondering if it's better to shelter in place and stock up on much needed supplies or to push hard for a new home with basic supplies (less than 6 months of supplies) ? What are your thoughts?

Do you guys think it's better to look for a new home right now or stock up on food and supplies and hunker down with what you got?

Honestly, at this point in the game, I think you're better off working on fortifying your position, stockpiling necessary supplies and connecting with other like-minded people in your area. COOMP is a great thing, but it's not always reasonable or feasible to do, especially if you have money and time constraints. Do have a bugout plan, however, for worst case scenario. I'm in SE PA, hit me up if you're ever in the Philly area. Also check out Forum and connect with others in Bear Nation as well as other like minded folk. There's strength in numbers, and even if you're out in the country, without a MAG, you're in a weaker position than if you had a team to watch your back.
I got a few places I can go to if worst comes to worst, and a "get home bag" if I need to get out quick. As for a Mag/ tribe I'm trying to coordinate friends and family with other members here to create one in southern PA and parts of MD.
I'm in the same area of PA MD border. Contact me thru email or dm. My husband and I are looking for like minded ppl to talk with, coordinate, share ideas, etc.
Hi Andrew, I'm in Philly, Near Montgomery county line, looking for or to start a MAG.
Okay think about the future.
Election coming up could be a huge, if Trump wins the snowflakes will have a breakdown.
If Biden wins they are coming after the guns, raising taxes and increasing regulations.
I think either way trouble of one sort is coming or the same trouble is gonna get worst.
Study the grand solar minimum I suggest the following youtube channels adapt 2030, Suspicious Observers and Ice age farmer.
A food crises is coming no matter who wins the election.
Facts: Vietnam bans exports of rice, India bans exports of onions, Philippines bans exports of rice. 1/4 to 1/3 of the worlds pigs died on the last year.
4th generation swarms of locusts are hitting the middle east, Pakistan, India and Africa. Due to the weather patterns changing because of the Grand Solar minimum there is now lots of rain in places that were dry. 4th generation means the swarms have breed 4 x times swarms are now in the 20 to 30 million size.
China wheat area has had horrible weather. lots of places have not gotten a good planting this year. Australia a former wheat exporter is now importing. Canada is going offline as far has major grain production
Move now you then have 8 months to get ready for the next growing season. You can get some trees planted this fall get your beds ready for planting. Get the heck away from main travel routes NOW>
Cannova, yes, I totally agree with you. Either way things won't be good. Gotta keep the faith and help each other, strength in numbers!
food and supplies first then new home if you are called to do so
Id stock up now unless you have the cash to buy, the banks are hesitant to lend right now, there are plenty of small scale preps you can start even on a small plot depending on your neibhors and area
Edited because im still not allowed to get the last word in apparently 😅
What is the Holy Spirit telling you? Follow your gut on these things. The Lord is speaking loud to his people now. I'm thankful we escaped Charlotte NC when we did. I would say supply yourself with self defense, move, and stock food now, during, and after.
It's hard to say. I feel convicted to help my family out who live nearby, but I do want to move sometime soon to 5 or more
I've been wondering the same thing. I'm nearby you somewhat, but closer to a big city(work) with a decent metro area. Right now we're renting in suburban/rural area. I have some basics saved up but not ideal just what I can reasonably afford right now. That being said I think it would depend on your situation, family, friends, like-minded people you connect with etc. What your long term view and goals are etc. This is a good post that I bet more people are wondering about too! I know I am.
I know we talked a little bit on another post, how are things since March?
Overall good, definitely blessed. Getting some family on board slowly, but still working at it. Some are too old to change or others want to just stick their head in the sand, or worse yet are buying into what the rest of us are trying to separate from. Went full tilt into container gardening and that's really helped build and strengthen my marriage, teamwork and communication! And trying to become producers instead of consumers. How are things up your way? and with you and your family?
Things are going ok. Family is doing alright. I'm far from getting any kind of acreage financially at this point, so I'm focusing on doubling down on what I got in the mean time.
FWIW, most families that are looking to move will do so before the end of August to ensure that their kids are setup for school in their districts. So, if nothing pops up that you like from now until the end of July, just hold on for a few more weeks and there will be many more choices for you. Shalom.
We are having the same issue, we've been stacking food, been making our MAG stronger, growing food...all while looking for jobs/houses elsewhere. Interestingly, part of our MAG may even follow us when we move. I think you can just do the best you can with what you're given, keep on praying and see where God leads you.
