A question for Oregon's Governor, Kate BROWN"SHIRT"
I have some friends who run a food bank at a church near me. They invited me to come and use their service. I was reluctant, and felt guilty accepting it. I am now availing myself of the assistance with one Caveat..... I ALWAYS go Last! I let others I feel have greater need than I do go first and get the "good" stuff. There is usually stuff left I can use. The ONLY reason I DO accept it is because our State's rules say anything that is NOT taken at that time HAS to be thrown in the Garbage which I think is SICK! I take more than I need BECAUSE-the "More than I need" I ALWAYS give to others I know who are in need but can't GET to the food bank for whatever reason. THIS way, much less is wasted and people get food through me they otherwise would not have access to. This past week, I was given THIRTY POUNDS of Potatoes. I kept 5 Pounds for my family, and made sure the rest got to three other people I knew could use them. I would MUCH rather see THIS happen than see the "QUEEN" in the Governor's Office order it into the trash! Since this Covid thing started, SHE has not missed a meal-OR A PAYCHECK! Between myself and Oregon's Governor, I wonder which one of us is ACTUALLY giving back to the people?!
