First, a confession, im probably a book hoarder... Marie Kondo can pry my books out of my cold dead hands... Maybe... i have a good grip...
Anyways, im concerned that blm/antifa is going to go from our monuments to our literature. Mark Twain, Laura Ingalls and their ilk portrayed the world at the time of their stories, thats not racism, its the truth. So my plan is to go to as many used book stores as i can with as much spare cash as i can round up and buy our classics, and i encourage you all to do the same. Id love bear nations help to brainstorm a priorities list, thanks in advance...
Mark Twain: The adventures of tom sawyer
The adventures of huckleberry finn
A tramp abroad
Life on the mississipi
Laura ingals wilder:the little house series
Harper Lee: to kill a mockingbird
Dickens, especially Great Expectations, Louisa May Alcott, O Henry, especially The Last Leaf....have to think about this.
just get anything written before 1983 and you should be good thats when things started to go bad in my estimation....
Yes! Sadly it has already begun... Thrift stores, rummage sales, older libraries, even ebay or goodwill websites. Some places have free book exchanges, cities or larger towns, that would be a great place to grab older books.
That is an excellent idea. I think I will get the LIW series. I loved it as a child.
@Maine homestead mom I would recommend cross posting this in the "Sanctified Industries" category, as this would be invaluable as a tride/barter item, especially if multiple copies are available. Perhaps even a "Bear Nation" library? We aren't just knuckle daggers around here lol.
Geesh Badger...and I was so working hard on that look.
Darnit deb you made me snort soup everywhere 😂
Fantastic idea Badger, can you mods do your computer witchcraft to make it go over there? All ive got to work with is a smartphone my darling child smashed this morning so im not going to be able to copy paste anything without glass shards in my hands atm 😑 if thats impossible ill figure it out, lol, just might have to wait till i buy some packing tape so i can use the top half of my screen...
Well this just came across my news
You can go to arcives.org to find copies of books.
