I'm looking into working with leather, but I wanted to know from the masses, what products would you like to see. I haven't started yet, but I'm trying to get a good idea on what I should focus on.
If it was me id get a good grip on fundamentals (can you sew already?) Then pump out a few sample pieces, see how long they take you and set your labor rate and offer custom work... In this type of community id think you'd do pretty well with an edc belt, offer specialized pouches to go on the belt like sheath and or holsters, mini med pouch, etc. Batman utility belt style 😂 (id probably buy one, lol)
Tool bags and organizers would be another one i think would do well, i know my husband is eyeballing a leather and canvas tool bag that costs a ridiculous amount of money 😂
I have a leather concealed carry purse for when i really cant get away with concealing a gun belt and i still have to go somewhere where id like to carry, i know fanny packs are somehow cool again, maybe you could come up with a concealed carry fanny pack 😂
Gloves would be difficult but i know theres a market for good leather work gloves that dont dye your skin yellow, maybe welding gloves too? If you watch mountain men on history at all Tom does pretty cool mocassins and they look on the easier side to me, i havent tried leather yet but i do sew so looking at projects from a sewing difficulty level...
So i think this is long enough already, lol. Just figured id throw some of my ideas around as i had considered getting into it as well, that was what i came up with. You could also go on amazon and search leather work and see what people are selling and for how much, and decide where you could make the most profit that way, good luck, i hope this helps
Terrific Ideas! Yes also a big fan of Tom's right here 😊. Wish i had only 1% of the talent and knowledge that gentleman has! Personally i would be happy just to find a simple real leather high quality belt🤔. Livestock peeps also use leather belts as high quality collars for goats, cows, dogs etc. .
How about starting out with like a leather TQ holder? Something that can molle on to a plate carrier or war belt. Could prob add customization to it for additional fee...
Nice post! same thought when i lost my favorite leather belt but i buy new one from hallowen promo codes it's pretty good so i thought about it, if i working with leather like jackets or ladies bags but it's not much easy just i thought that. but you must try until get it.

Thank you guys for your input. I know it's been a while, but I was dealing with some family matters.
Did you ever get into it? I actually just got a stitching pony and some basic tools to try it myself, going to start with my utility belt, lol 🤣
I did start, got a few tools and plenty of leather. Had to put it on hold for a learning curve making a teddy bear.
You all are amazing!!! Cant wait to see some results, if yall wouldnt mind sharing!!!
