Just like a novel...Life can throw unexpected plot twists at the worst times. Originally, we were prepared to ride it out. As it quickly ramped up to a Cat 4 we left to the bug out location. It was still a destructive storm four hours away from it. Lots of damage widespread in North and South Louisiana. Was stuck at the bug out location because of lack of fuel. I had three gas cans full (My end was covered, other relatives wasn't prepared.)
Lake Charles and Sulphur got the eye. So much is destroyed but, thank the Father that my prayers were answered. My house still stands with minor water damage. My 100+ year old Live Oaks are still standing. (Noticed that the older trees were the ones still standing most of the time)
My neighbor's trees did not fall on my house, one of the old oaks actually caught one. Lots of trees down. I'm fortunate that I will just need a new roof and some drywall and not a new home.
1: Expect the unexpected
2: Water, water, water
3: Don't get down when people, or family give you crap for prepping! (Everyone was sure glad I had enough water, food, and batteries etc...to share)
4: like Bear said; Food is power. Water is life.
5: Deodorant in the BOB is going to be an additional feature in the future. Because Dammit Bobby! You stank!
