My family and I live in downtown Farmington. I'm a truck driver by profession and gone all week. After I heard about the protesters in Farmington on June 1st and the police had to break up a fight before it even started I was concerned. So when I'm home I make a point to walk around town at night at least once with my concealed sidearm. If anyone else wants to join me you are more than welcome to. I start at the gazebo and walk down Main Street keeping my eyes and ears open.
My question is was this home grown or driven by outside influences?
@Haunted55 I'm not sure. Most likely it was homegrown. I heard that black lives matter and trump supporters were about to get rough when the police broke it up and separated the two groups
be very careful....
Just did some looking and it seems it was driven more by locals than anything else. Today, with the President coming to Maine, will be interesting, but still I'm not sure that places like Farmington have much to worry about except from local monkey see people. There's nothing of consequence there. The college but that's a small thing. Now Augusta, yeah I can see that, Orono, yup. But for the most part, the damage created here would be small time. Most of the industries that would have a major impact both home and nationally are already closed or gone. It would barely make a blip on the news. Not trying to be disparaging. More analytical of the area. Now if they got it into their heads to take out all of the labs up here...that might be a different story. There are some funky things going on in some of those that fly under most peoples' radar. That might be an issue, or if they took out the Rumford paper mill. With the chems stored there...remember, they never did do a full clean up of all the old chemicals stored there. That plume could and would be devastating to a very large area with the normal wind flow.
I am not saying do not be vigilant and aware. Just don't be afraid. Most people here are armed and will protect their own.
I'm just trying to keep my eyes and ears open for any possible problem. I don't draw a y attention to myself either.
With Maine being an open carry state, I’d open carry as much as possible. Rights not used are easily lost
I opened carried last night on my rounds
