My husband and I are looking for land. We recently stayed 4 days in SW OK and drove A LOT, looking at the region. It's a bit overwhelming not being familiar with that area so I'm coming to the Bear Nation for insight.
We stayed in Antlers, and explored all directions. I like natural resources and land that can be cultivated (we saw a lot of really rocky areas). Can anyone offer suggestions of specific areas to take a closer look? Thanks!
I live right in the middle of the state. Farm land is good here - mostly sandy loam. Land prices near the bigger cities are going up. Look east of OKC (but away from Tulsa). Far southeast and northeast are more hilly. Panhandle is flat. Good luck.
Our friend that lives in Antlers has seen the prices quickly increase and availability is low. Realtors saying they can't get enough listings; things selling as fast as they list. Thanks
That area is alright, but further north gets you further from Dallas and into the hills around Tahlequah OK
Tahlequah certainly is quite a way north. We went up to Sardis lake, cut east and then south. A lot of that drive was to visualize the terrain/scenic drive for the day. I do realize it will take more than one trip out there and looking at multiple areas. Thanks
A lot may depend on what you are looking to put on the land and it's purpose. Oklahoma has varied areas.
