Just a small rant, I suppose you could call it. People, most of us can feel something is coming like a freight train. What it's going to be I have no clue, but I do know it isn't going to be good. A lot of you are late to the prepping party and do not have the luxury of taking years to figure it all out. We'll be very lucky if we have months left for that. So in all love and with respect I will say the following...you need to start looking at this with out ego and dreams. Sorry, it's way too late for that. First look at where you are now. Are you in a city or the outskirts of one? Do you have land to grow food on? How about a way to heat and cook? Then what are you going to do about getting food? Do you have the proper clothing for outside conditions? What if you have to go north to get out of harm? Got those things? How about south? Do you have any idea what you would be facing outside of your comfort zone? Where are you going to go? Oh, a State Park? A National Forest or Reserve? Really? You'll find yourself in with a whole bunch of others who thought the same way. Good luck with that! I think you'll find it will be the firstest with the mostest in that situation. You may not be welcome there, because others were quicker and already staked their claim. Now what? Woe to you if you have small children. Would you be willing to leave them with an established community even if you are not welcome? Or is staying together and risking starvation and exposure more important?
It's all well and good to be putting food and survival item by and I highly recommend it, but where are you putting it? Bear has video after video speaking to this. Watch them. Watch them now, with new eyes and the knowledge of your true situation. Do not think that what is coming is going to be a short term thing either. Most likely it will be months or probably years before we could even think about getting back, even a portion, of what we have now. Another thing, if you think you will be able to find a new 'home', best be putting that idea aside. Do you know the story of the Little Red Hen? Look it up because that is going to be the way it is. If you don't have a solid group now, people you can trust with your life and a place to go, You have nothing. The ones that have, are not going to be quick to welcome any into their compound. Oh, you're a doctor? Awesome! Do you know how to grow food? No? How about how to make biofuel? Hmmm. Do you know how to process wood for heating and cooking? Do you know how to make the medicines that might be needed? So unless someone is sick or hurt, you'd just be an empty hole that needs to be filled with calories, that could be better used on someone who can do the things. Harsh? Yes, yes it is and it's also truth.
If it were me in your shoes...I would be looking for land. Even if it's only an acre, away from "civilization" land is still cheap. Then find water on it. Then build a shelter of some kind. Get out of your comfort zone now, before you are thrown out of it. You have a place? You can secure it and stock pile your stuff. You can bury metal rubbish cans in the ground with properly packed dry food. Ammo as well. Clothing, blankets, whatever. You have a place, you have hope.
I don't want anyone to think this is empty fear mongering. It's not. I know, a lot of us here on this forum, are not going to make it. I could be one of them, so could you. That sucks...that sucks a lot. Still, I am doing the things in my place, to get it as ready as I am humanly able. With new eyes, I'd like you to look at yourself and explain to yourself what you are doing and why. See, in the end it really won't matter to me. You aren't here. I won't have to watch you succeed or fail. I'll be way too busy worrying about me.
Excellent post the truth
How practical and true you are! We are looking for a new home now, but until Yah makes a way, we stay put. We are on the edge of a very small town, we have no neighbors and have a huge corner lot. Lots of garden area, more to utilize too. And we have the seeds. We've gardened here since 2009 and have been continually successful each year. We have the foods, the defense and know how to use them. Plus three other families who are like minded. Listen to this woman, people! She is speaking truth to you! Shalom and Blessings from NE Missouri!
Paula Jo, it sounds as if you are not bad off where you are. If you have people who think like you and are doing the same things....
@Haunted55 Yes, we are. Flooding is an issue, but we have been through many, so are used to it. We are 2 blocks from the river, so....But with that the only downfall right now, I think Yah can handle that for us. We are indeed blessed. And, the doctor's office for our small town is right next to our house, so we got that going for us! Yes, until Yah says go we will stay and continue to equip and store.
@Paula Jo Flooding can be an issue, but it can also keep you safe as well. You are not exactly considered a good place to be, right? Is it possible for you to berm part of the land? Around the house and major garden? If you could do that and in such a way that it isn't too obvious.... Sounds to me like you might like to have some 'rock gardens' go up around the place you live. Imagine how pretty, lol. Then you could also add some berry bushes and such, as long as they don't grow so high you lose sight. The less the outside can see in, the better off you are in that kind of a situation. Being that close, you must sandbag correct? I would use the rock gardens as sand bagging on steroids. They could also be used as stops for anyone trying to gain the house. Map your land and see what you come up with. You know what you have faced and how, use that. Figure it out and then hush, lol. No pictures, nothing to share except with those who will need to know. Yah gave you a head girl, use it and be blessed because of it.
I do worry about not only you but
But???
Oh so true
WOW! Awesome and blunt!! I love how you posted that in Dec. haunted55 you are right on the money. I try talking to close friends and my family about these things. They will never get on board with me. Even after the COVID-19 takeover! We have HEARD THE BLAST AND SAW THE FLASH BUT WE HAVE NOT WITNESSED THE DAMAGE YET! Keep on preppin on y’all!! even hour it takes to prep now could take 300+ hours after the grid goes down or other restrictions go into effect!
Can you even imagine if we went into a Cold War with China and all the consumer goods chain Dried up! We don’t have the infrastructure to build a tenth of the goods as of now! BEANS BULLETS BANDAIDS
WHISKEY ALFA ROMEO ! PREP OR DIE
🇺🇸
Walk soft and carry big stick! I’m looking for people in the northwest to join a network! cheers
Where in the NW? I'm in GH Co, WA
Scott Thrall, where in the NW?????
Scott, I guess your ideas about a cold war aren't too far off the mark either. Everyday I wake up I wonder if war has been declared yet and have to check to see. Not this soft war going on now, I'm thinking something a lot bigger and harder. All of this crap going on now is bread and circus. Being used to cover the real stuff. Stay resolute and strong. No fear. Do all you can now and hit your knees as much as you can. Shalom, I pray it is well with you and yours.
Cold Hard Truth You Speek.
Good post! 🥰
Hopefully, my wife & I will be at home. We built a Solar Power Station that feeds a Lithium Battery Bank, rechargeable L.E.D. Lighting fir every room, an Inverter to power the Phones and other electronics, Canned & dry foods in case the fridge fails due to grid down, Ham Gear to monitor other Ham traffic AND gather intel on what the cops are doing(!),OUR Radios can also Monitor Military and DHS Traffic, Kerosene for Off-Grid heating, a camp stove with 505 Butane fuel canisters, EIGHTEEN MONTH'S SUPPLY OF INSULIN, Mister Smith & Mister Wesson share our Bed, LOL, Bought a LOT of NEW clothing this year, and loading up on ALL Meds, both Prescription and OTC. I also belong to a FEMA accredited VOAD-Volunteer Organization Assisting in Disaster. I have a 4 X 4 Pickup with an EIGHT DAY Survival kit in it.
The LAST place I want to be is out in the Bush with a bunch of frightened and armed Greenhorns!
While gathering needed stuff you also might want to gather manual tools for repairs and building and fortifying gardening and such , easy to find now but very valuable when needed or easy to trade or preform trade service if the occasion should arise , heck lots of people throw this kind of stuff out when moving, or cleaning a garage out , boom sticks and bullets have a purpose but tools and a little know how has a purpose as well , so many things to make a well rounded prepper my wife calls me Fred Sanford , with what I gather up over the years
I have a decent tool kit in my Pickup already. GOO POINT!
