I thought I would take a little walk down Memory Lane, and share some past experiences which got me ready for what is happening right now.
In my younger days, I was homeless off and on for SIX Years. I GET IT! Now, my wife and I have been together a little over 32 Years. We've had a few touch-and-go moments, but never what I went through when I was single. The worst my wife has ever had it was in 2007 when a hurricane took out our Power and downed trees, cutting our entire area off from resupply for eight days. During that event, we ran out of fuel and ALMOST ran out of food. That scared me, but didn't phase my wife-because there was still food on the table. After things got back to "normal" we bought an indoor use Kerosene Heater, but that was the ONLY real prep we had for quite awhile. THEN Katrina hit the Gulf Coast-my younger Sister & her Husband literally were on the LAST plane out of New Orleans before they closed the Airport. I watched in horror what happened at the Super Dome. That lit a fire under me and I joined the American Red Cross. I was deployed to the SOCAL Wildfires for a week. THEN came Sandy. I was beginning to see before Sandy, but AFTER Sandy, my Eyes were truly opened! I will take to my Grave what I saw next. I saw ABC News interviewing a poor woman in Manhattan. The lady was crying a river of tears, frightened out of her wits. She screamed into the Reporter's Mic; "Where's the Government? We're all gonna die!" That with a salvation Army Food serving van not 100 feet behind her!!! She was so scared and so UNTRAINED to deal with ANY type of emergency that she could not see the help just a 15 Second walk away! I saw this as a Microcosm of Americans at large. THAT is when everything came together in my mind, and from THAT DAY FORWARD I have been a prepper! Show less REPLY
