I have a friend in Estill county, and I'm considering moving to Kentucky to join him, but he's been living very isolated for the last 4 or so years. He's having a hard time meeting good, dependable people, and the only way I would be willing to move out there is if we aren't completely solitary. So, anybody in the area?

We live 3 hours from Estill County. That is southeast of Lexington.
I was in Lexington for 2 years. May I ask where you are?
I live 30 minutes south of Bowling Green, a beautiful city.
Is that where the corvette museum is? My friend loves that place.
Yes it is. Where would you be moving from?
I'm in Iowa right now, I'm originally from Indiana. And I'll be honest, I did not have a good time in Kentucky. Treated like I"m stupid and incapable because I'm a girl. Treated like an outsider because I'm not from Kentucky. If I'm going to consider going back, I need to know there are good people. I need a tribe. And my friend has dug into a valley out by Irvine, had bad experiences with people, has a neighbor stealing from him and doesn't understand why I don't want to be there. I need to know there are people to count on.
My friend is from New York state and has the accent to go with it, so he kind of has a giant target on him being an obvious outsider.
id rather not air my laundry on the forum. Email me here. Tlevek@gmail.com. Let’s chat.😀
We moved here almost 6 years ago from Indiana. We have a small farm near an Old Order Mennonite Community, and like being here and near them. However being in our 70s, we have not blended into the local community much. Having children in school helps a family blend in quicker. Additionally we, like Bear, are Torah observant, but have not found anyone local to fellowship with. It seems that many people following Bear Independant or Travis, at The Prepared Homestead, are moving to the Ozarks.
