I am a 36 year old single male. I have experience hunting, cooking, and gardening. Right now, I am working on my garden. To give you an idea of what I am doing, I'll tell you I have 50ish tomatoes of a few varieties, 6 jalepenos, a couple dozen bell peppers, and a bunch of herbs that I recently transplanted into pots. In a short while, I'm going to put most of it outside. I also have carrots and turnips and tons of lettuce. So, while I'm still learning of course, I am very interested in the garden. I also have a big interest in the kitchen. I have worked in restaurants most of my life in every position, including line cook. So, I can always offer a capable set of hands in the kitchen. I'm no top chef or master butcher, but I can certainly put a nice meal together and work a knife.
The people in my life have made it clear that they are not planning to leave town. My mother, father, sister, and a few friends all live in the suburbs. I have expressed my desire escape to a much more rural area and get together as a family. They aren't completely asleep. They can see the writing on the wall too; they just aren't ready to pack up and leave their lives behind just yet. I worry that it will be too late by the time they finally realize it's time to get out of the suburbs. So, sadly, I am planning to go without them. If they don't want to go, I can't force them.
I would love to find a group that could make use of someone with my skills. Please comment if you have a group, know a group, or just want to start a conversation. I look forward to meeting some like-minded people. And if you have decided to stay in the suburbs or cities, I still want to hear from you. I would like to talk to some people and share thoughts and ideas, perhaps learn something, and hopefully find a group.
