There’s one near me in north central Texas that does. While I can see the idea of keeping out those uncommitted, funding could be used elsewhere to improve personal preparedness (as I recall their membership wasn’t cheap).
been there done that no one could agree as to how much or how it should be spent...i'd walk away if i were you....
I think if it's reasonable it's okay. I was part of a group and the buy in included securing a room, after all prepping requirements were met of course. The fee was not refunded after I left, so lesson learned the hard way.
