Number one reason nobody can form a MAG, tribe, group, etc. Too much OPSEC, 007 James Bond, secret squirrel BS.
Check, fully understood, you don't want everyone to know that you have a bunker full of food, water, ammo and medical supplies. Guess what? They don't need to know and may never need to know but that doesn't stop you from getting to know people and building a community you can rely on.
All you need to do is meet people. Doesn't anyone have friends anymore? Don't people just hang out together anymore? Seems like it should be fairly easy, in the “old” days our friends were defined by our neighbors, co-workers, lodge member, boy/girl scout troupe members, little league parents, bowling team members, fellow church members, etc. Just meet people, get to know them, BUILD RELATIONSHIPS. Of the groups listed above you'll find people with like minds, feelings, thoughts, problems, etc. Sure you will also find people that you can't trust, don't like, can't stand, shouldn't associate with for whatever reason. etc. Just don't associate with them, its that simple. Stop trying to recruit people like everyone is trying to build their own militia. Its understandable that people feel stressed right now. The best time to do all of the above was 10 years ago (but since that time is gone, start now) and now all of a sudden the reality is setting in that all the storing of MRE's, Mountain House meals and bottled water actually has a purpose. Now all of a sudden people want to have a MAG/team/tribe to take on the world.
I would suggest that if anyone is looking to create/build a MAG then start at your own front porch. Have actual viable skills to offer others. Bring something to table that attracts others to be willing to spend time around you. Knowing how to ruck 10 miles with a weapon and pack in the woods I would say is a good skill but at the end of the day doesn't offer much on the day to day getting through this world scale.
Good skills might be some of the following but not limited to (in no particular order):
2. Mechanical skills (vehicle, small engine)
3. Knowledge of heating and AC systems
4. Knowledge of water systems (pumps, wells, etc)
5. Medical capabilities to treat common issues (not mass trauma, sucking chest wounds, etc)
6. Veterinary services
7. Technology (computer systems, networking, programming)
8. Communications systems (TV, radio, etc)
9. Inventory and logistics
Have something to offer other than a bunker full of MRE's, ammo and medical supplies. At the end of the day, just get to know people, become friends, share ideas then one day out of nowhere you will have a group of people around you that think like you, act like you, share a common goal and you can rely on when times get tough (presto, a MAG). Keep in mind you don't have to like everything about everyone (people have flaws, make mistakes) you just need to be able to rely on them.
Now everyone can flame me for saying the absolute truth and I'm OK with that its the way of the Internet.
