Shalom! I am thinking of making a youtube channel, but just had a baby and am kinda ugly, so don't know if I can handle the comments...but I really feel like someone needs this information now for prepping for shtf.
10% of Americans get kidney stones, according to the CDC and American Urological College, so someone you know is likely to have this issue if a teotwawki event happens. I have some experience with kidney stones and kidney infection and want to talk about what I use to help my body recover. I've had medical treatment for a stone so big it could not pass, and for the raging kidney infection from that stone blocking my kidney up, but have also passed stones and treated uti on my own, with my urologist and midwives being pretty darn impressed. Stones are not fun, the medical treatment at a hospital is NOT fun, but it would be terrible for someone to get in a situation that requires medical care and none was available. I always think for myself, prevention is worth an ounce of cure! I am NOT a doctor, and am NOT recommending any treatment for anyone, I am simply sharing with anyone who cares what I do for myself, and what I would do if shtf and I had no access to medical help.
DILUTION is the solution to the pollution! My Urologist said that he would be out of business if people truly drank to dilute their urine everyday all day. Urine should always be clear. In shtf, this is probably going to be hard to maintain, but kidney stones are no fun. I will always drink enough water to keep my urine clear as a preventive. I also avoid dark teas and coffee, but drink Dandy Blend (which helps open the ureter (connects kidney to bladder) and also green tea which has shown to help prevent tooth decay and kidney stones. Lemon water for oxalate stone formers, citrate helps prevent oxalate build up. I drink from a big ole quart jar several times a day, this helps me to consume the water, if it's there I will drink it. If I keep small vessels, I will ignore the duty. Keep moving. Being active will be easier in a shtf situation, but walking daily in normal times is all I can sometimes do now and helps gravity work out any kidney build up. Massage. My urologist showed me a massage I can do to literally massage a kidney stone down my ureter. If you've had a stone big enough, you've likely felt the stones journey...fun!
I use the herbal remedy Chanca Piedra, STONE BREAKER, stone CRUSHER! Stone crusher can help dissolve the most common types of stones, and can help some people not develop them, and promotes kidney health. Daily I take 2 droppers between meals for one month, and take off two months, repeat as a preventive. I use the brand Herb-Pharm in their Stone Breaker formula. This is safe during breastfeeding, I did not use when pregnant, but did not ask my doctor or midwife if it was safe. For an active stone, some people take this tincture 3 times a day between meals for up to 8 weeks, or until they pass the stone as gritty gravel. Other stone formers drink Chanca Piedra as a tea daily. It takes likes celery to me, so I take the tincture quickly and chug 8 ounces of water.
For infections and uti's I take vitamin C, garlic, Uva Ursi, and most importantly D-Mannose without cranberries (for those who get oxalate stones avoid cranberry), vitamin D. I take vitamin d in the morning, vitamin c through out the day until I get the runs (during an active infection). A garlic capsule at every meal. D-mannose according to the bottle several times per day during an active infection, daily as the bottle says for preventive.
Females for infections, get a probiotic that has L. rhamnosus and L.L. reuteri. I ingest, but also break open a capsule and put it on the private parts. A man also needs to keep a clean area for his women's sake and he can also put a probiotic on his private parts to encourage healthy probiotic growth. If I was a man that suffered from stones or utility, I'd find a probiotic for urinary health.
To support a healthy body, and possibly prevent kidney stones, I take magnesium glycerinate every night, as I know I don't get enough in my diet.
I will link some products I use, I am not suggesting anyone use as a treatment, again not a doctor, but just showing what I buy and store for shtf. https://www.vitacost.com/garden-of-life-raw-probiotics-vaginal-care-50-billion-cfu-30-vegetarian-capsules I buy this probiotic in person, as it should remain cold. https://www.vitacost.com/santa-cruz-organic-pure-lemon-juice https://www.vitacost.com/productsearch.aspx?ss=1&t=uva%20ursi
