What's up Bear Nation? Bear keeps talking about the forum, so here I finally am. I am not new to the "prepper" game, I've been actively prepping between 12-15 years as I recall. There are some weak points I would like to shore up, the first of which is pretty much being alone in the game. I'll drop some broad background information to start, hopefully I can meet some people and be of mutual assistance.
I have a pretty strong IT background, mostly hardware and operating systems, but most recently a couple of network engineer positions with wireless internet companies. Surprisingly, I'm not strong on HAM, so if someone can help me with my baofeng game, that would be cool. The IT game did get me into crypto back in 2012 and I did quite a bit of mining and trading over the years. I can offer a lot of help and experience on that front.
Many moons ago I had a brief stint in law enforcement and EMS, certs long since expired, but I still carry the experiences with me.
I am a certified commercial pilot and flight instructor which probably relates to my interest and experience in sailing our great lakes.
I have a fair bit of fire arms experience going back over 30yr but recently really got into building ARs, and have a fair bit of experience now, happy to share it. About 20yr experience in reloading.
I've never done a garden before, but Bear got through to me. I am just beginning to plan and prep a 24x100' garden and looking for a lot of advice.
My work has me driving my personal vehicle about 140,000 mi/yr so I've become a fairly good mechanic over the past 3yr out of necessity, even getting into the top end of the engine / valves. I'm sure I'm leaving out a lot of relevant information, but it's a start.
Hello Good Sir,
I currently live in the suburbs of Chicago. Getting married next year and am looking at buying a home somewhere else. I am looking at central MI, not for the economy, but for the people. I would be leaving both mine and her family behind. Are you near Coleman MI? Do you know of anyone with experience near there?
If you are near there, I would love to chat with you.
I am and have taught primitive skills before, I have been an arborist slinging a chain saw, and have some good gardening experience. I am not a novice to firearms, but am much more in tune with Archery.
God bless.
Just checking in neighbor, hope you are high & dry today and the Bay area is not overwhelmed. We're fine on the mid-Mitt waterway but our neighbors not so much. If you know anyone in our area who needs help, there are resources popping up and I've posted three in my thread. Have a fantastic weekend👍
Thanks, yep, high and dry and no barriers to me getting in and out of my warehouse in Midland and back and forth to Detroit so far! We roll on... Can't get to my parents house in Shields without an 80 mi detour though.
If you have a need or run across resources for our neighbors, feel free to cross post here. You've got care blanche 👍 EDIT: well duh, I meant over there, wherever I am in Mid-Mitt 🤣
