Hello,
We live, work, and homestead in East Texas on less than 15 acres. I have been mildly prepping for a number of years but just in small increments as my wife was not on board for most of our marriage. This year that changed, as I showed her that Scripturally even God led us to prepare for times of famine during times of great provision. So we have moved towards a much more sustainable lifestyle. The China virus basically cost me my entire career, so we have moved a lot more deeply into homesteading since I have a farm background from when I was a kid. Thank God my wife is in the medical field so for now we are financially keeping our head above water. Of course the vaccine may alter that soon, as we do not do vaccines, especially not this one. Instead we choose to live on, rely on, trust in, and fully stand on our faith in healing provided from the sacrifices made by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I have become licensed as a Level 3 Texas state commissioned private security officer so hopefully I can find some part time work to help financially until we get the homestead really established. I am a certified NRA handgun instructor, an Active Shooter Incident Instructor, and licensed in Louisiana Church Security also. I know we have a long way to go to be truly efficient in preparing, but at least we have solid plan now. We are also becoming members of THENET which is a East TX faith based preparedness group that consists of dozens of families which meet monthly and learn from one another and cultivate community.
I appreciate this opportunity to learn from others and be able to share our faith with some of you all. Looking forward to getting to know some of you. I pray everyone has a blessed week! Thank you T for putting together this community, I can't believe it took me this long to realize this resource was here.
Well Hello WildlifeGrocery! Maybe we can meet and talk sometime. My email is preppintrucker@gmail.com. Hope to meet you some day, until then shoot me a holler and we'll go from there. My wife also works in the medical field, and our whole family has had the 19. Did nothing to us we are aware of, and I am getting to the older side with preexisting conditions I would consider it. No fevers even! I worked security for a while. Reach out to Securitas. (They used to be Burns. That's when I worked for them.) I also was commissioned corrections transport but was the standard weekend, nighttime booking officer for a couple jails. That was back when I had some muscle! LOL Now it's just fat! Anyway, hope to meet you one day. JCIL!
Sounds like we have a lot in common. I'll shoot you an email for sure. Hope you all have a blessed day!
How does one become a licensed security guard? would love to find a way to pick up some part time work to supplement my income.
In Texas you have to take a class and climb the levels. The first tier is a single day class to receive Level 2, which is Non-commissioned Unarmed, then you advance to a much longer training class to achieve your Level 3 Commissioned Armed license. After that you go to another longer training to achieve Level 4 which is Personal Protection Officer and at that point you may work armed and in plainclothes with a concealed firearm, basically it's for store security, corporate protection, and bodyguard duties.
Here is the Texas State link to get started:
