With the CoVID-19 Pandemic and the activation of many of our Mutual Assistance Groups during this time of National Emergency, it has come to my attention that there is an immediate need for assistance and how you can help.
Hundreds of hospitals all across the world are being absolutely overwhelmed with patients suffering from this terrible disease. We are at War with this virus--make no mistake about it. Thousands have already died, many thousands more will die. The casualties number in the hundreds of thousands already. It is a very rare thing when it is possible for the efforts of a single individual to make a direct difference that can immediately save a life. The Front line EMS, nurses and doctors battling this disease in the trenches, day in and day out to save as many people as possible, need your help.
If you have the ability to sew, have a sewing machine and have bolts of light cotton fabric, I implore you to download patterns found on the internet and begin manufacturing surgical masks, caps, and booties for our frontline people to use. Many plans exist and youtube construction videos exist just by searching "Homemade Surgical masks for Covid-19."
While we all prepare for this disaster and its unfolding consequences we can also contribute something positive---my daughter alone is currently making 100+ masks here in Northern California. I am so very proud of her---I have told her that her efforts will save a life, probably more than one. Let us make our time home something useful---contribute to the war effort. Mobilize your friends and family. Sew not only for yourself, your loved ones, your friends, your neighbors, the stranger down the street. The pediatric nurse pressed into service in the ER. The doctor who stays in his own garage to protect his/her own family from the disease.
While we prepare for the dark days ahead, we can also do our part and use our time to help. Together we can make a difference separately. This is a war, we are all on the frontlines. We will hold the line together. For ourselves, for our families, for our country, for our world. So help us God!
