How did I get here? At bearindependent.com on the forums, looking for other Torah peeps in Alabama, then realizing that everyone here looking for a group in their area; already has a group at the tip of their finger.
So, how did we get the point of paying attention to Torah?
Seriously, tell me what happened that focused your attention on Torah.
Testify.
Well I have been attending conservative Baptist Churches for about 20 years, but starting probably 2 years ago, this verse jumped out to me, Mat 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
When Yeshua was speaking the only commandments were Torah, so that has me searching for what exactly this life of a believer should look like
I am in exactly that same position—decades in conservative mainline churches basically preaching “grace alone” with no encouragement to follow Torah since Yeshua fulfilled everything there is to fulfill. Then I stumble upon Torah observant Christians and am reminded that Yeshua seems to suggest that Torah still needs to be followed—the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow—not to gain salvation, but because He says so. I could use the opposing viewpoints laid out side by side so that I can decide where to go from here. I kind of feel like a basic truth has been hidden in plain sight so I need a clearer roadmap to discover the best route forward.
